Hey there,
Wow, do you ever have those moments when time just seems to disappear? On one hand, I’m wondering where the last few weeks (even months) have gone. On the other hand, I know they’ve been packed full of activity.
Right now, I’m somewhere near Lübeck in northern Germany, juggling office work and preparing for my return to the south of France by the end of the month. It’s time to dive into some boat projects – a few things need to be ordered, some work needs to be done, and then it’s time to let Santana back into the water as we head westward.
Lately, I’ve been wrestling with some decisions I made back in Tanzania. Combined with some personal challenges this summer, I’ve found it hard to send updates, even though Nike has continued publishing videos we recorded while sailing in Mexico. And I wanted (and am going to) give you my own spin on these videos. Watching these each week brings me back to that time—seeing it all again through the lens of the camera adds another perspective.
If you’re curious, you can subscribe to her YouTube channel to catch all the videos when they’re released.
Of course, I’ll share them here as well.
It feels a bit surreal watching the latest video we filmed in March, just before I left Mexico. Nike and I had spent a week in Marina Chiapas, getting Karl ready for the Tehuantepec crossing. With only two days left before I had to head back to Elba, Italy to pick up Jango, I remember feeling torn—I didn’t want to leave. But it wasn’t until I got to Elba that I fully processed those emotions. Little did I know, I’d be flying back to Acapulco sooner than expected.
For now, enjoy the video, stay safe, and keep smiling.
All the best,
Floh
