We Actually Sailed to Africa

Africa has been a dream destination for as long as I can remember.
And for those of you who’ve known me a while, you know… it’s been a bit of a love-hate relationship.

That’s why I’m especially glad that Nike convinced me to take the southern route this time—to sail along the African coast instead of hugging the Spanish mainland.
Especially after seeing Gibraltar and Barbate on my last trip to the Canaries, this felt like the right choice.

Our first stop was Melilla—a Spanish town that’s geographically part of Africa, surrounded by Morocco on one side and the sea on the other. I’d never been there before, and honestly, crossing the Med and landing on African soil (even without showing a passport) was a big moment.

I think this was the longest passage we’ve done on Santana so far.
We had it all: calm stretches, intense rocking and rolling, dolphins, whales, and some beautiful sailing conditions in between.

It also reminded me how good it feels to have Nike on board.
She challenges me.
She has my back.
And most of all—she shares these moments. The kind that you remember for a long time, even when no camera’s rolling.

Stay curious, stay salty. All the best, Floh
