Hey there,
I’m spending some time in the Swiss mountains, enjoying the fresh air. Last weekend we were in Wallis, next weekend we’ll be in Zermatt, and during the week we’ll be in Graubünden. It almost feels like vacation—though I somehow still manage to pile up work on my desk!
There’s also a huge backlog from the past two years, as things were moving slowly, if at all.
How are you doing? Are you able to enjoy your summer? Are you on vacation, and what do you have planned for the rest of the year?
Today, I want to share some photos of one of the projects that has made significant progress. Over the past few months, we finalized the registration of our Tanzania-based company, DJANGO Travel & Adventure Ltd. Last week, we signed a 10-year lease for a house on Kilimanjaro! The house is located on the mountain, just outside the National Park at an altitude of about 1,600 meters. It’s conveniently situated near two main gates: Machame and Umbwe Gate.
Right now, Estella is overseeing preparations, as the house has been empty for several years with only a watchman looking after it. There’s a lot of cleanup to do, but we’ll be getting the rooms ready one by one. I’ll be posting more updates soon.
In December, I’ll likely head to Tanzania for two months to finish up the project and fully open the lodge to tourists. If you’re curious, you’ll be able to find us under “Django’s Adventure Safari Lodge – Kilimanjaro.” It will serve as our base for adventure safaris to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, as well as our Kilimanjaro hikes.
If you’d like to join me sailing, I’ll be back on Santana around August 23rd. And if Tanzania is calling your name, you’re more than welcome to join me there too! In January, we’ll be leading a group of 10 for a Mt. Meru and Kilimanjaro summit trek, and we could fit in another hiker or two if you’re up for the adventure.
Take care, my friend, and I hope to see you soon.
Best,
Floh
