Hey there, sunny greetings from Mexico!
I’m not a fan of flying or overnight travel; time zone changes always throw me off. But, I had a compelling reason to jet back to Mexico.
Last year, when I downsized my business ventures, I made a conscious decision to focus on coaching and exploring remote destinations. I was determined to bid farewell to the Mediterranean and set sail in the Atlantic, bound for the Caribbean. Now, I’m relishing the opportunity to cruise along the Mexican Pacific coast for an extended period.
I’m still a bit concerned about Santana’s chainplate issue, but I’m hopeful I can address it upon my return. Despite that, navigating the waters and immersing myself in a country’s culture is alleviating a lot of built-up pressure. I’m in no rush to leave Elba; I anticipate a delightful Italian summer after already soaking up three months of warmth before June.
Currently, I feel incredibly fortunate. Spending every moment with someone in close quarters can be a challenge, but fortunately, we share a similar mindset and work routine, and always hold space for each other which creates a harmonious environment. These sailing days have been some of the most relaxed while being most productive.
Nike and me met in Acapulco a week ago, sailed approximately 115 nautical miles to Zihuatenejo, and spent a few nights there. Between addressing boat maintenance and office tasks, we managed to journey another 75 nm to Bahia Butadero, albeit for just one night due to tumultuous waves.
I relish the tranquility here, especially compared to the constant bustle of Acapulco. Zihuatenejo offers a charming ambiance with its plethora of restaurants, quaint shops, and myriad statues adorning street corners. Acapulco, on the other hand, bears the scars of a devastating hurricane, evident in its damaged high-rise buildings and omnipresent armed security.
As we chart our course northward, we seek out serene anchorages. If you’re curious about our progress, feel free to track us at: tracking.flohjoe.com.
