Update on Boat & Office work

  • by

Good morning everyone,

I’m slowly pulling my head out of “installation and repair” mode and wanted to give you a quick update on the past few weeks.

At the end of last month, I cleared and closed up our mountain chalet “Heidi.” Then, in early May, I traveled to Elba to take over Santana. After that, I started my journey back north, spending a few days in Liguria, some time in Switzerland, and then headed to Berlin, where I officially received the founding documents for my coaching company. Yes, Simplicity of Happiness is finally becoming a reality as a limited company! The company is now based in Estonia, within the EU, which simplifies working with other businesses.

After Berlin, I made my way back south, with a brief stop in Switzerland, before returning to Elba. Now, I’m on Santanafor two weeks, using this time in the marina to tackle improvements that are best done while docked.

Meanwhile, I’ve also been diving into a new, larger coaching project and founded DJANGO Travel & Adventure Ltd in Tanzania. It’s been quite the learning experience! Interestingly, I found the founding process in East Africa to be much smoother than in Germany. For both companies, I was able to do the majority of the paperwork online, which made things much easier.

Here in Elba, I’ve also started renovating the teak deck on Santana—another big project that’s underway.

I installed a new anchor:

Got new chain, cleared and measured the entire chain:

fixed the lid of the chain locker:

Installed new solar panels:

Rewired the 220v inverter installation and rewired the entire 12v switchbord:

Cleared the teak of some old varnish:

Found a place for all of my tools, so I can work on everthing that is needed while on the way.

And now I am in the marina for the last couple of hours. Then life in the bay begins for the entire summer.

Well, I hope this will give you a better picture and the next time, I‘ll be out at anchor.

Talk to you soon my friend, Floh
