Update from Tanzania 10.01.2023

Hey Patron,

I just wanted to send a quick update to kick off the new year!

First of all, I hope you had a great start and are as excited for the year ahead as I am.

Personally, I was a bit under the weather throughout November, which made December quite busy as I tried to catch up on everything. Among other things, I drove to Italy, fixed a few things on the boat, spent Christmas there, then headed back to Switzerland to pack before flying out to Tanzania.

This was actually my first time flying in three years, and my first visit to Tanzania since June 2019. A lot has changed since then!

As I’ve mentioned in previous updates, I’ve been working on Django Tours and getting the lodge on Kilimanjaro up and running. Well, I finally got to see the lodge in person, and I have to say, it looks even better than I expected. It’s located next to a wild river with countless waterfalls—it’s quite a sight!

I can imagine that within a year or two, this could be a super comfortable lodge offering mid-range prices. For now, though, we’re starting out with budget prices while we work on getting everything in shape.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to manage it myself right now. I’ve mentioned before that I want to simplify my responsibilities in 2023, and I’m still figuring out how that’s going to work. My business partner, Stella, is six months pregnant, so she’ll be a bit tied up in the coming months, staying in Zanzibar with her partner while giving birth.

I’m here in Tanzania until mid-February, so I have a bit of time to figure out a solution. I’ll keep you posted once I have a clearer plan.

That’s where things stand for now. Take care of yourself, and enjoy life!

Best,
Floh
