Sailing The Infamous Karl

  • by

Hey there,
Almost at the season finale, I’ve finally caught up with Nike’s releases! What a journey it’s been. Honestly, I had no idea she was planning to release nearly an entire season featuring me, but I have to say—I’m loving it. Watching these episodes brings back so many incredible memories, and I feel incredibly lucky to have my own “private documentation team” capturing this chapter of my sailing life.

Now that we’re venturing into uncharted waters for Santana, it feels surreal. Leaving the Mediterranean has been a long-time dream of mine. In fact Nike, who I’ve admired as a fan of WhiteSpotPirates for years, was one of the people who inspired me to take the leap and single-hand a boat in the first pace.

Crossing Paths: A Connection Years in the Making

Did you know that Nike was recommended to me by several different people? Back in 2018, when I was recording interviews for my Simplicity of Happiness podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with her. That conversation was so rich and engaging that I had to split it into two episodes!

During our chat, Nike explained the philosophy behind naming her YouTube channel WhiteSpotPirates. It’s about exploring the “white spots” on your personal map—the ones in your mind and heart that haven’t been discovered yet. Even though the world’s physical maps are well-charted, everyone carries a unique map of their own world. Her journey of discovery mirrors the essence of what I strive to help people with in my coaching work.

I never imagined that our paths would cross so deeply—or that our journeys would mix in such a profound way.

Sailing Beyond Comfort Zones

Speaking of expanding horizons, Nike handed me a unique challenge recently: she asked me to sail her boat for a day while she filmed it.

At first, I felt entirely out of my comfort zone. So much of her boat’s setup is completely different from how I’ve arranged Santana, and I felt unsure and uncomfortable. For me, the challenge wasn’t about being in charge—it was about adapting to the existing conditions and working with what was already there.

Well, now you can watch how that played out in the latest episode! 😉

Thank you for following along with this journey. It’s incredible to look back and see how far we’ve come, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

Take care, Floh
