While my boat patiently waits up in the North/East, I recently spent a week in Corsica, exploring whether it could be the perfect place to spend next summer. Spoiler alert: it absolutely is. Corsica is even more beautiful than I imagined, and contrary to my online research, I discovered plenty of wind-protected bays with excellent anchorage grounds.

Now, the challenge is getting my boat there. I’m still unsure if it will sail without some modifications, but I’ll need to give it a try somewhere. It’s clear now that making any changes before the wood has soaked up enough water and expanded fully doesn’t make sense. I need to see how much it swells once wet before making any decisions.

So, I’ve planned a short trip along the French coast, starting from Toulon and heading towards Cassis. The idea is to find a harbor with experience handling wooden boats, where they can let me stay on the crane for at least 24 hours. In Bandol, one of the most charming spots I visited, I struck gold. They’ve got the space, they’ve got the know-how, and they’ve even got a vibrant community of wooden boat enthusiasts.

Plus… it’s Bandol. How wonderful is that?

Cheers, and thanks for following along,
Floh
